A Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserves was deployed overseas. When he arrived on his base he met a funny little orange and white cat that lived next to his barracks.
He tells us, “I’ve been around cats most of my life but I’ve never met a cat like this guy. He would follow me around like a dog. If I told him to stay he would stay if I told him to come he’d come. Almost instantly we connected.
He was skinny so I gave him a pack of tuna. He gobbled it up like it was the best thing he ever ate (no doubt it was). From there on I called him Tuna. I refused some of the original suggested names like pumpkin spice and so on. The name tuna stuck. Every day I made it a point to hang out with Tuna. I wanted to try and save Tuna so I got in touch with Paws of War to try to get this sweet cat. home. Tuna and I have a special bond, he brought serious joy to me every time I saw him. Unfortunately, the part of base where Tuna lives is next to a major road and it’s only a matter of time before something bad happens. I’ve personally watched cars swerve not to hit him while he crosses the road.
I hope to get the opportunity to reunite with Tuna in America and give him the awesome life he deserves. Getting animals home that connect with service members is helping so many soldier's avoid the trauma of leaving their best friends behind. These animals are so therapeutic overseas, and helping with the transition of coming home”
